What Past 55 is
Past 55 is an independent publication that explains Social Security, Medicare, SSDI and retirement costs in plain English. We write for people 55 and older who are making decisions with real dollar consequences.
Every figure on the site names its source and the year it applies to. If we cannot name the source and the year, the number does not go on the page. Annual figures change each year, usually in October or November, so we show which year each number belongs to.
What Past 55 is not
Past 55 is not affiliated with SSA, CMS or any government agency. We are not financial advisors, insurance agents or brokers. We do not sell insurance, we do not recommend plans, and we do not promise eligibility for any benefit.
